Bonzo Bridge: Connecting Hedera to the Broader DeFi Ecosystem
Bonzo Bridge is now live in beta. What is Bonzo Bridge?
Bonzo Bridge is a cross-chain bridge that lets you move assets between Hedera and some of the most popular, EVM-compatible chains: Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism. It uses a single, streamlined workflow — pick which asset you want to bridge, where it's going, and Bonzo Bridge handles the cross-chain heavy lifting.Because Bonzo Bridge utilizes LayerZero’s OFT standard, supported asset liquidity is shared between networks and bridging is not limited by how much liquidity of that asset exists locked up on the destination chain. This ensures that any amount of asset being bridged, to any destination network, is able to be bridged without limitation.
Additionally, for the wETH asset, Stargate infrastructure is utilized for automatically unwrapping wETH into native ETH on all EVM chains that support this asset.
What you can do on day one
- Bridge WETH and WBTC between Hedera and Ethereum, Arbitrum (WETH only), Base, and Optimism.
- Native ecosystem wallet support including HashPack and Kabila, as well as MetaMask and other WalletConnect-supported wallets.
- Receive native ETH automatically when bridging WETH to any ETH-native chain. No unwrapping, no extra steps — you land with native gas in your wallet.

Hedera’s fast finality, low and fixed fees,inherent MEV mitigation, and growing ecosystem make Hedera a superior destination for DeFi — but every DeFi ecosystem requires one important element: Liquidity.
Bonzo Bridge acts as a foundational piece of Bonzo Finance’s mission to become The Liquidity Layer of Hedera. A few things to know before you bridge
- Beta tag. Bonzo Bridge is fully functional, but flagged as beta — if you hit a bug or issue, please let the team know by opening a ticket in Discord.
- Gas on both chains. You'll need gas on both the source chain and the destination chain, in the account to which funds are being transferred. If bridging wETH to an ETH native chain, it will appear as native ETH and can be used as gas. - Funds stay safe. If a bridge transaction fails, LayerZero ensures your assets remain on the source chain, so nothing gets lost in transit.
- Most transfers take a few minutes. Exact times depend on network congestion and which chains are involved. Ethereum mainnet is typically the slower end due to block confirmation times.
